Uganda’s COVID-19 Cases at 2,679 as deaths rise to 28

Uganda has confirmed 155 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths. The numbers are from samples tested on Wednesday 27th August 2020.

Uganda has confirmed 155 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths. The numbers are from samples tested on Wednesday 27th August 2020.

The deceased are both male aged 58 years from Kapchorwa district and 59 years from Mbale district. This brings the number of cumulative deaths to 28.

The confirmed cases include; 140 contacts- with 71 from Kampala, 12 from Kikuube, 8 from Jinja, 6 from Mbarara, 6 from Mukono, 5 from Tororo, 4 from Gulu, 3 from Pader, 3 from Kitgum, 2 from Kisoro, 2 from Buikwe and 2 from Luweero.

The other contacts are from; Bundibugyo 1, Busia 1, Isingiro 1, Kapchorwa 1, Kasese 1, Kiryandongo, Kyegegwa 1 and Mbale 1.

The new cases also include; 9 health workers- 6 from Kampala, Wakiso 2 and Jinja 1. 5 truck drivers tested from different points of entry and 1 returnee from UAE.
14 foreign truck drivers who tested positive were turned away. 

Currently, Uganda has 2,679 cumulative confirmed cases, 1,268 cumulative recoveries and 28 deaths.

A total of 363,802 samples have been tested since the COVI-19 outbreak.
