Musician Cinderella Sanyu is arguably one of the most booked Ugandan artists, thanks to her performing abilities which have kept her at the top for years.
The singer says she recently turned down promoters who hid behind the fasting period to pay peanuts to artists.
Cindy explained that she asked them to postpone their events and wait for the right time if they couldn't meet her financial demands, claiming Ugandans are broke because it's the fasting period.
"So there's this trick that promoters have when they call you and want to pay you peanuts. They tell you it's not a good season... people are fasting... and Ugandans don't have money, so I'm like let's wait until the season is right and I can get paid. It's not a do or die situation. I can't perform for peanuts just because it's Kisibo time," she partly said in a video shared on her social media platforms.
Cindy believes artists should be empowered to negotiate for their fair share from promoters.
