The president National Unity Platform, NUP party Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has noted that even if President Yoweri Museveni is sworn in on 12th May 2021, he was not elected by majority Ugandans.

While speaking to the party leadership teams from Mbale, Bukomansimbi, Kayunga and Kyotera who paid a visit to the NUP office in Kamwokya on Wednesday, Kyagulanyi said they must find a way to reclaim their win, from President Museveni.

“The people of Uganda did not elect Gen. Museveni and he knows it. We must therefore use every opportunity and chance to reclaim the victory of the people. The positions our leaders got into must not bring comfort and remove our minds from the bigger picture. There are no heroes in a sinking boat. All of us must rise up and accomplish this mission” Kyagulanyi said.

He added that although they were not declared winners by the electoral commission, they got a big number of elected leaders and should take advantage of this to work very hard for their people.

“Although we were not declared by Mr. Byabakama, we got a very big number of elected leaders at different levels. This means that we are challenged to work very hard for our people and show them that the change we promise is not just in word, but action” Kyagulanyi added.

Kyagulanyi says it is their responsibility as NUP, to remove Gen. Museveni and establish a government that works for the people of Uganda.

According to the NUP president, this requires the party to keep focused on the goal and not be diverted to the left or to the right.

“The current persecution I face is as a reason of deciding to take on the dictator, but is very unlucky because he now faces challengers who have risked it all and will continue risking it until Uganda is free” he said.

President Yoweri Museveni is set to be sworn in for a new term of office on 12th May 2021. The opposition NUP insists they were robbed of their election and that they must reclaim the win. It remains unclear, how this will be done.
