Musician Phina Mugerwa Masanyalaze recently took oath as one of the board members of Uganda National Cultural Center.

The singer has now announced a war against the TikTok social media platform. She explained TikTok is killing Ugandan culture, and she will not allow it to take over African beliefs.

Mugerwa explained that instead of people going to theatres and other gazetted places for plays and games, they resort to TikTok for leisure.

"TikTok is taking over the world, and because of it, we are no longer promoting culture. We as creatives used to be the most effective when it came to communication. But it is sad that people now listen to TikTok more than they listen to wise people such as Mr (Alex) Mukulu. These are people we need to listen to more while they are still with us. We assure you that you will see some change starting with us," she partly said in an interview with a local television.
